She/Her

What is your professional title or area of expertise?

I have been the Camp Director for Eagle's Nest Camp, a non-profit summer camp, for 20 years. I have experience in child development, risk management, staff hiring and training, program development, and risk management (and fire building, creek hiking and lunchtime singing :)).

How did you discover Montessori?

I was in the first class of 3-year-olds at the Montessori School of Anderson, SC (celebrating their 50th year in 2023) and attended through 6th grade.

Why do you love being on the WSM Board?

The WSM Board is very active and involved in the school's continued growth. It's exciting to be part of a group so passionate about the education of the whole child.

What about WSM attracted you to the school?

I love hearing the stories about how the children are engaged in their growth and education. They are empowered learners who will grow to be impactful adults.

How are you connected to WSM? Do you have students who attend?

My children did not attend Montessori, but I have known many children who have. I also know folks who have worked at WSM over the years. My connection is through alums, through my own experience as a Montessori alum, and also as an educator.

What is a fun fact/interest/hobby you’d like to share?

I am a lover of nature and the outdoors, something I attribute in part to my early years at Montessori. The school that I attended started holding classes in a local church. One Sunday, our class corn snake ended up in the collection plate. Soon after, we broke ground on building our own space.

“May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us.”
