Children’s House 4 Assistant Guide

How did you discover Montessori? With eight years of experience working closely with children, I’ve developed a deep passion for watching children flourish into their own person. My background includes roles as a teaching assistant in Pre-K and traditional Kindergarten classrooms, as well as extensive experience as a nanny. Most recently, I was introduced to the Montessori approach at a school in the Washington, D.C. area, and it completely transformed how I view education.

Why do you love being a Montessori guide? Watching students learn from one another while gaining independence in a nurturing, community-based environment resonated deeply with me. I fell in love with Montessori’s emphasis on child-led discovery and respect for each learner’s unique path.  I thrive on engaging with children and supporting them on their creative journeys as they explore, grow, and unlock new parts of themselves. As an artist, I’m constantly inspired by the raw creativity and honesty children bring to the world—they are some of my greatest teachers.

What about WSM attracted you? After returning to North Carolina, I searched for a school with strong Montessori values like those that inspired me at my last school in D.C. WSM stood out for its commitment to fostering independence, community, and a deep respect for the child.

I’m especially drawn to how the guides use intentional, respectful language—it’s a beautiful reflection of the school’s values. As an artist and educator, I’m excited to support children on their creative journeys and to grow alongside them in such a thoughtful environment that WSM provides. I am also excited to learn from the children for they are the best teachers of wonder!
