Ana Montoya

Sunset Assistant Guide

How did you discover Montessori? I first discovered Montessori education through my mother, who taught at this very school for 18 years. Her dedication to the child-centered approach and its emphasis on fostering independence and curiosity sparked my interest. My passion for Montessori education deepened when I observed a classroom in action and witnessed how children thrived in an environment that nurtured their natural love for learning. Since high school and throughout college, I have had the privilege of working at this school, further solidifying my commitment to the Montessori philosophy.

Why do you love being a Montessori teacher? I love being a Montessori Sunset guide because it allows me to support and witness the individual growth of each child. The Montessori philosophy emphasizes respect for each child’s unique learning journey and fosters a deep sense of responsibility and self-direction. Seeing children develop a love for learning, build confidence, and achieve their milestones is incredibly rewarding. It’s fulfilling to be a guide in their educational adventure and to create an environment where they can explore, discover, and grow at their own pace.

What about WSM attracted you to the school? Their strong commitment to maintaining the integrity of Montessori principles while fostering a nurturing and inclusive community. The school's reputation for providing a stimulating learning environment, as well as its emphasis on collaboration among staff, parents, and students.
