Welcome back! We are excited to get started on the second half of our year and look back on some highlights from the end of 2022.

“Two things are necessary, the development of individuality and the participation of the individual in a truly social life." Dr. Maria Montessori

Her Royal Highness Miru, Carrot Queen, fresh from painting the chicken coop

As we completed our study of the ancient Middle East, students researched recipes traditional to that area. Those recipes, including ones shared by Shereen Gomaa during her visit, came together for a fantastic feast enjoyed by all. Students cooked vegetable, chicken and/or tofu skewers as well as farro over an open fire; in the kitchen they made couscous, fattoush (salad), hummus, and tzatziki; they baked za'atar flatbread from scratch; and they enjoyed a dessert of pomegranate seeds, dates, and homemade baklava. This yearly tradition culminates our fall Humanities studies and provides an opportunity to celebrate our community and friendships.
